PVC Shrink Film
PVC shrink film is a thin plastic that shrinks tightly when heated, forming a transparent protective layer that follows the contours of your product. From drink bottles and food jars to cosmetic boxes, this shrink wrap keeps products clean, authentic-looking, and intact all the way to the consumer.
What Is PVC Shrink Film?
PVC shrink film is made from polyvinyl chloride that is stretched during production so it has a "memory" to shrink back when heated. Passing through a heat-shrink tunnel or heat gun makes the film tighten and cling closely to any shape—bottles, cans, small cartons, even irregular objects.
Its two core strengths are protection and transparency. The film keeps out dust, moisture, and scratches, while letting customers see the product directly—proof of authenticity that opaque packaging cannot offer.
How PVC Shrink Film Works
The principle is simple and fast, ideal for high-volume production lines:
- Wrap – the product is inserted into a PVC shrink film sleeve or sheet.
- Heat – the film passes through a heat-shrink tunnel or heat gun at a controlled temperature.
- Tighten – the film shrinks to the product's contours, forming a tight, clear protective layer.
The result is packaging that survives handling, distribution, and storage without damage.
Key Advantages of PVC Shrink Film
Choosing shrink film means efficiency without sacrificing appearance:
- Full-surface protection – keeps out dust, moisture, and light impact; products stay scratch-free in transit.
- High clarity – customers can see the product directly, reinforcing quality and authenticity.
- Fast and economical application – shrink wrapping takes seconds, perfect for high-volume production.
- Flexible for many shapes – bottles, cans, small cartons, and irregular products all wrap neatly.
PVC Shrink Film Applications
- Food & beverage – bottle necks, jar lids, and multi-pack bundling that needs a clean seal.
- Cosmetics – serum bottles, cream jars, and bundles that want a premium look.
- Electronics & accessories – batteries, cables, and small parts prone to loss or scratches.
- Toys & household goods – keeping labels and product parts intact until they reach consumers.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is PVC shrink film safe for food packaging? Yes, with the right usage pattern. In industry practice, PVC shrink film is most commonly used as an outer seal, band, or overwrap over primary packaging—such as bottle necks, jar lids, or multi-unit bundles—rather than in direct contact with the food. For these outer seals our formulation is odourless and tasteless, so it never affects the contents; direct food-contact needs are served by our food-grade packaging line.
Can it be combined with labels or printing? Yes. The film can be printed with your brand design, or combined with a label underneath for a wrinkle-free finish.
What about vacuum forming? Shrink film and vacuum forming actually complement each other—shrink film protects the surface, while vacuum forming creates shaped packaging that locks the product in place.
